On Wednesday July 3rd, the second Metalot@Work of 2024 took place in the Future Energy Lab in Budel. The theme this time: Status & Plans of the Iron Power Consortium around Brainport.
The session was dedicated to presenting the new vision document, which was shared with Jacqueline Vaessen (TKI top teams of chemistry & energy) and Ruud Cino (MT member Energy System and Innovation, also deputy director at ministry of EZK). In addition, an important update on the Iron Power Consortium and from Metalot about its role within it.
This Metalot@Work was an extremely informative and interactive session in which beautiful milestones were shared and the momentum of Iron Power is noticeably moving strongly.
After the opening of the afternoon by Professor Philip de Goey, he introduced the Iron Power Consortium, consisting of TU/e, TNO, SOLID, Metalot, RIFT, Iron+.
The consortium worked together on the National Growth Fund proposal, which unfortunately is currently off the table due to a government decision. Nevertheless, the government supports the consortium with proposals to implement the proposal.
Iron Power is growing rapidly worldwide, so now is the time to form a strong foundation for carrying the technology through the consortium. So that we communicate as one to the world as much as possible.
In the past period, the latest version of the vision document for Iron Power has been developed in collaboration with Roland Berger. The most important substantive parts were presented by Bram Albers, Roland Berger.

Professor Philip de Goey presented the first edition of this to Jacqueline Vaessen (TKI top teams of chemistry & energy) and Ruud Cino (MT member Energy System and Innovation, also deputy director at ministry of EZK). Their presence means a lot for the confidence in the future of Iron Power and the Consortium.
Raoul Voeten, Managing Director Metalot took over as host of the afternoon after the presentation and explanation of the vision document by Bram Albers.
The 2024 Iron Power Ambassador Awards were presented this year to three of our partners:
1. Danh Phuc Nguyen, Arcelor Mittal R&D manangement
2. Ahmad Sayed Kasseem, Arcelor Mittal R&D department
3. Reginald Deolet, Arcelor Mittal, CTO Gent
The Awards underline their great confidence in the technology and their continued support of the Iron Power consortium.
Roy Hermanns presented the highlights of the R&D part of the research program around Iron Power on behalf of TU/e.
Altiro Energy
First up was Canadian start-up Altiro. Samson Bowen-Bronet (Founder of Altiro Energy) introduced their plans and applications on Canadian soil in an inspiring presentation.
RIFT en IRON+
Although RIFT and IRON+ are working separately on making Iron Power widely applicable, it is great to have them speak together in this session. Both parties share the interests of the consortium and Metalot its independent role within it in order to jointly achieve greater support for the technology within the future market.
Guy Willems (IRON+) and Mark Verhagen (RIFT) shared their plans for the future in separate presentations and gave an exclusive look into their strategy on how they are developing and rolling out Iron Power on a large scale.
On Wednesday September 25, 2024 we will organize the next session.
